I. Objectives:

By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to greet and respond to greetings formally.

II. Language focus:

  • Vocabulary: morning, afternoon, evening
  • Sentence patterns:
  • Good morning/ Good afternoon/ Good evening.
  • Nice to see you again.
III. Resources: textbook, recordings, speaker, interactive whiteboard, laptop.

IV. Procedure:

  • Warm up: (5 minutes)
  • Say “Hello” to the class and introduce yourself. Go around the class and greet to some Ps and ask them some questions like “How are you?”, “What’s your name?”, etc.
ð Ps interact to Teacher.

ð Teacher leads in the new lesson.

1. LOOK, LISTEN AND REPEAT

  • (7 minutes)
- Have Ss to look at page 6
- Ask Ps to look at the pictures and elicit the characters
- Set the scene: We are going to explore a new phrase
- Have Ps listen to the recording as they read the lines in the speech bubbles twice
- Play the recording again and ask Ps to listen and repeat each line in the speech bubbles
- Ask Ps to practise in groups of three
- Call some groups to read aloud
- Elicit the structure: Nice to see you again.

2. POINT AND SAY
(15 minutes)
- Have Ps look at the pictures on page 6
- Elicit the characters in the pictures and guess what are they talking about. Ask Ps to guess and complete the speech bubbles
- T models the parts of characters in picture a to Ps
- Ask Ps to act out the dialogue
- Ask Ps to practise the dialogue in pairs
- Monitor the activity and offer help. Correct pronunciation mistakes when necessary
- Call on some pairs to perform the task in front of the class. The others observe and give comments
- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation.
